Why Josie Started TechKnow

Josie didn’t grow up knowing tech was an option. She’s a first-generation daughter of immigrants, raised between Haiti and Boston, navigating life on her own while becoming a teenage and then single mother.

She worked multiple jobs—from hotels, to elderly care, to security.. At one point, she was making $8.50 an hour, trying to survive while raising her son and juggling three jobs at once. When she tried to break into tech, nothing made sense. The language. The roles. The expectations. It felt like a world she wasn’t invited into. But she wasn’t behind. She just wasn’t shown how.
